Marketplace

The marketplace is the Audible store your account belongs to. Pick it before you sign in. A United States account uses us. The other choices are uk, ca, au, de, fr, es, in, jp, and it.

The books folder

The long box under Marketplace is the folder where audio files are saved. Press Browse, choose a folder, then press Save folder. Do this before a large download so the books land where you want them.

If you have not chosen a folder yet, NovelWarp uses a folder named Books inside NovelWarp in your Windows user folder.

Keep the log in the download folder puts the diary file novelwarp.log in that same books folder, next to the audio. Uncheck it and the diary stays beside the shelf data, in the NovelWarp folder under AppData.

Your Amazon sign-in

Type the Amazon email and password for the Audible library. Remember on this PC stores them in Windows for this Windows user. The next time you open NovelWarp, the boxes are already filled. The email and password are not written into the book list or the log. Uncheck Remember and press Sign in if you want Windows to forget them.

Press Sign in. The gold box says Signing in. Leave the panel open until that finishes.

NovelWarp registers with Amazon as an iPhone. Audible no longer offers a Windows program that can download a library, and an iPhone registration is one Amazon still accepts. The audio is saved on this PC. In Amazon's list of devices you may see an iPhone named NovelWarp. That entry is this program. You can remove it later from Amazon's content and devices page if you stop using NovelWarp.

If Amazon asks for a code

A box appears under the buttons. Type the code Amazon sent and press Send. Stay with that step until signing in finishes.

Sign in sends the email and password from this window on the first try. No browser opens for that try. Sometimes Amazon answers with a JavaScript page that the sign-in tool cannot finish. No code is sent. NovelWarp then opens your browser to a page on this computer, at 127.0.0.1. That address is this PC. The page belongs to the sign-in tool. It shows Marketplace, Device, and Pre-merger. Leave Pre-merger unchecked. That box is for an old Audible username, and an Amazon email typed into that old form does not sign you in. Leave Device on iPhone. Press Continue to sign-in. The next page is Amazon's, so Amazon asks for the email and password again there. Stay on that tab until it says Login complete. If you close the browser early, the sign-in stops. Press Sign in again and stay through both pages.

On Amazon's page the checkbox is labeled Pre-merger Audible username login. Leave it unchecked for an Amazon email.

A second Sign in, while one is already running, is answered with "A library task is already running." Wait for the first one to finish.

Download the books you own

Bookmark note and Bookmark, the series name and volume with Save series, Download this book, and Remove from list.

Download this book is the wide button on the left of the bottom row. It fetches only the title you have open. Bookmark, Save series, and Remove from list share that part of the window. Their pages are Bookmarks, Find a book, and Your files.

Sync library asks Audible for the current list of titles. It does not download the audio. Use it after you buy a new book, so the title can appear on the shelf.

Download owned fetches the purchased books that are not already in the folder. NovelWarp works on two books at a time. Each one is saved, then unlocked, then the next begins. The gold box says Still working while this runs, and Download finished when the run is done. A book shows up under All when its audio is ready to play.

You can also open one title and press Download this book on the right. That fetches only that title.

Every title in the Audible library stays on the shelf. A purchase that is not in the folder yet says Not on disk. A title added from the catalog says Catalog. Open it, then press Download this book. Download owned fetches purchases only, so a catalog title is downloaded one book at a time.

Scan folder reads the books folder and adds audio files that are already there. It understands m4b, m4a, mp3, mp4, and m4p. A file that is still being written is left alone until it settles. While a download is running, finished books appear on their own. You can keep using the window.

The first time the shelf is built, the gold box says Please hold, and Establishing library listing. The window stays clickable. When the list is ready, the line under the player tells you the library: how many books are on disk, how many series, how many titles stand on their own, how many you are listening to, and how many are finished.

While a download or a sign-in is running, you can scroll the log. Clicking the dim area around the panel does not close it during that work. The Close button still closes the panel.
